I’m doing it all over again and this time it’s the big one!
My name is Alan Myler and on 22nd April 2018 I will be running the London Marathon.
In the spring of 2017 I did an epic running challenge to raise money for North West Cancer Research. Part of this included running the Blackpool Marathon and both the Half Marathon AND 10k Great Manchester runs. I set this blog up initially to cover my journey last year and you can see my older blog posts (I will soon be covering the big races I did in 2017 – keep an eye out for these)
Well this time around is the big one and I will be running the slightly more famous London Marathon, again to raise money for North West Cancer Research.
As with last years challenge I am doing this in memory of Brian Myler (my Dad and the man in the picture) and to raise money for North West Cancer Research.
My Dad died after a short battle with Oesophagael Cancer on 26th June 2016. North West Cancer Research is a local charity to me who are currently funding research in to this form of cancer at the moment, so it is a cause very close to my heart:
We are the only independent cancer research charity fighting the toughest cancers in North West England and North Wales.
Since funding our very first research project in 1980, we have always been at the forefront of life-saving cancer research. More than thirty six years’ later and we are still funding some of the best cancer research at the University of Liverpool, Bangor University and Lancaster University.
As a charity we have committed to funding more than £13million worth of cancer research projects over the next five years; and we support hundreds of clinicians, doctors and students in the fields of basic, translational and clinical research.
Our promise is simple. We only support the best local medical research, to stop cancer sooner.
